A bizarre video showing Tom Hanks’ son celebrating Joe Biden's presidency is surprising people due to his use of a Jamaican accent.

For many, the new clip is serving as an introduction to Chet Hanks, who is 30 and Hanks's son with his wife, Rita Wilson.

Chet, also known as rapper Chet Haze, has previously come under fire for posting videos in which he uses the accent despite being a white American.

In January 2002, he was accused of cultural appropriation after giving his father, who was nominated for his lead role in A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood, a shout-out in Jamaican Patois.

He captioned the video: "BIG UP FIMI WHOL FAMILY SOON COM AT DI AWARDS NA SEEN CHUNE IN."

Now, this new video, in which Chet begins to show compassion for US election loser Donald Trump before revealing he's joking, has seen him raise even more eyebrows.

"Chet is back at it again," one person wrote, with another adding: “I will never get over the fact that Tom Hanks' son just woke up one day and decided to have a Jamaican accent."

Speaking about his views on cultural appropriation earlier this year, Chet defended himself, asking: “Why are we so quick to be angry and tense over the blurring of racial communities, instead of just being welcoming towards it?”

Hanks and Wilson have one other son together, Truman, who was born in 1995.

The actor had son, Colin (born 1977), and daughter, Elizabeth (born 1982), with his first wife, Samantha Lewes.
