Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Quickly after Will Smith’s Deadshot made the comment “we some kind of Suicide Squad?” midway through the Suicide Squad trailer, the phrase became a meme.
“So that's it, huh? We some kind of Star Trek?” “We some kind of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword?” “We some kind of Wonder Woman?”
Thanks to montage maker Roman Holiday, there’s now a video of 150 title name-drops compiled together, ranging from the out-of-place (Bend It Like Beckham) to relatively natural (Fried Green Tomatoes).
Some notable inclusions: mid-way through, a string of Bond films appear, including You Only Live Twice, For Your Eyes Only, A View To A Kill, The Living Daylights, License To Kill, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day.
There’s also three films beginning ‘I Love You’ and two versions of both True Grit and Around The World In 80 Days. Watch below.
A couple of great ones that could have made the cut: Goodfellas, The Matrix, Groundhog Day, Iron Man, Snakes on a Plane, the other two Back to the Future films, and Jurassic Park. Perhaps in the next montage.
