Timothée Chalamet has revealed he snuck off to the bathroom to text his friends during an “epic” surprise dinner with Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Kid Cudi and Pete Davidson.

Fans were confused when a photo of the unlikely group of celebrities celebrating Kid Cudi's birthday emerged on Twitter in January, and now Chalamet has described how “surreal” the evening was.

Speaking on Wednesday night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actor said: "We’re hanging out, and then it feels like there’s an earthquake in the restaurant. It was, like, epic. You turn around, and I was like, ‘Holy s***.’”

Recalling his reaction when West entered the room, Chalamet said: “I went to the bathroom. I sent a text to two friends. I was like, ‘Am I worth… does this make sense?’

“They were like, ‘Man, 16-year-old you would slap the s*** out of you. You go back to the table.’”

Chalamet said he knew Kid Cudi and Davidson already but felt like he was “too much of fraud” to be in the company of the other celebrities.

The 23-year-old actor is starring in the new film adaptation of Little Women alongside Meryl Streep and Saoirse Ronan.

Little Women will be released in UK cinemas on 27 December 2019.
