From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. After Captain America: Civil War bucked the city-destroying trend to spotlight personal relationships as its central spectacle, the promises teased by the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok are nothing short of utterly tantalising.
"It's an intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor," Mark Ruffalo told Entertainment Tonight, though he clarified that there would be plenty of screentime for his big, green alter ego. "I think it will be smashing. You'll see a lot more Hulk... the Hulk gets Hulk-ier. The Hulk Hulks out. Hulk-ier and bigger."
Which, perhaps, isn't of great surprise with What We Do in the Shadows' director Taika Waititi on board; whose other buddy road movie Hunt for the Wilderpeople, starring Sam Neill and newcomer Julian Dennison, gets its UK premiere at the upcoming Edinburgh International Film Festival.
To add to all that intrigue, Marvel recently confirmed both Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth will indeed be joined by the rumoured Cate Blanchett, playing the villainous Hela (otherwise known as The Death Queen). "She plays the worst of the worst. So evil," Ruffalo said. "She is going to kill us. It's such a great part she gets to play."
On top of returning cast members Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Idris Elba (Heimdall), and Sir Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Ragnarok will feature the talents of Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Karl Urban as Skurge.
Thor: Ragnarok is set to start production in July, and will hit UK cinemas 27 October 2017.
