From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The first half of The Walking Dead season 7 has drawn to a close following a chaotic yet heartfelt midseason finale (yes, we said 'heartfelt').
Instead of ending on a huge cliffhanger, the episode wrapped up the first batch of episodes in a fist-pumping way that saw much of the wayward group reunite to formulate a plan to defeat the Saviours.
With over two months to go until the series returns from its winter hiatus, a trailer teasing the next few episodes was released on discussion show The Talking Dead - and it hints at the war that's to come.
It seems the Rick won't waste any time in enlisting the Kingdom to their war - at one stage, his group can be seen standing opposite King Ezekiel (Khary Payton)
"Alexandria, the Hilltop, the Kingdom - our communities have something in common; we all serve the Saviours," he tells the monarch before saying: "Join us in fighting."
Last night's episode saw a member of the Kingdom attempt to recruit Morgan and Carol in convincing Ezekiel to fight back; these were the episode's five major talking points.
The Walking Dead returns to the UK on FOX, February 2017.
