From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The Killers have released their first single from upcoming album Wonderful Wonderful.

Titled ‘The Man’, the song — a sinister disco track that takes inspiration from Depeche Mode — was premiered on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show and is now available on Spotify.

The track was recorded during sessions in Las Vegas and Los Angeles with Jacknife Lee, the upcoming album marking the band’s first LP since 2012’s Battle Born.

Between Battle Born and Wonderful Wonderful, lead singer Brandon Flowers’ released solo album The Desired Effect in 2015, a follow-up to Flamingo.

The album has yet to receive a release date, the band’s press release calling it “soon-to-be completed” while labelling the record their “most sonically forward-thinking record yet; an LP bursting with all of the blazing choruses and arena-filling anthems”.

While partaking in a Facebook Q&A, Flowers revealed his favourite song from The Killers’ back catalogue: “My favourite song, I’ve not been shy about, is ‘Read My Mind’ [from 2006’s ‘Sam’s Town],” he said, via NME. “It doesn’t matter if we’re in a bar or an arena or a stadium or a festival or to 50 people, when ‘Read My Mind’ starts, the room changes.”
