Film company Lionsgate is licensing two parks, one in China and another in Atlanta, that will feature rides and other attractions related to the hit dystopian movies.
Fans will have to wait a while yet as the Atlanta park, to be called Avatron Smart Park, is not expected to be ready until sometime in 2019, mainly because its developers needs to raise $625 million first.
Further details on what to expect from the parks are yet to emerge as designs for rides are only in the early stages, but if you want to get your Hunger Games adrenaline fill sooner rather than later, you could head to Lionsgate’s other entertainment project in the United Arab Emirates, due to open next year.
That park will feature zones dedicated to other movies like Divergent and Step Up, as well as its own District 12, costumed Hunger Games characters and even Peeta’s bakery and the Hob black market.
Visitors will be able to take a tour of Panem on a hovercraft simulator ride, before riding a roller coaster resembling the super speedy Capitol trains. Who knew a twisted ‘game’ pitting children against each other in a fight to the death could spark so much fun?
Final Hunger Games movie, Mockingjay Part 2, reaches cinemas on 19 November. To date the franchise has grossed $2.3 billion worldwide.
