From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. The British Board of Film Classification cited “sustained threat” and “moderate violence” for the relatively high rating, coming as a surprise to many.
For those US fans disappointed the film was not R-Rated like Deadpool, this will come as some relief, while the announcement also gives insight into how violent the film really is, seemingly pushing the rating boundaries.
“For an R movie, you have to decide to do it right out the gate, and that was never the case here,” Ayer said in April at CinemaCon.
“We were always going to hit the PG-13 rating. But the film is meant to be that. It’s got edge, and it’s got attitude. And it’s got its own voice… There’s a lot in the film that’s going to surprise people.”
Recently, a new trailer for the film was released, showing who is really pulling the strings behind the villainous team.
One of the film’s Costume Designers has also revealed that Margot Robbie once wore the iconic jester outfit Harley Quinn has in the source material.
