From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

If you ever end up making a superhero movie then, let me be the first to warn you: expect clips of almost every scene to leak onto the internet years beforehand.

Both Captain America: Civil War and Suicide Squad are filming at the moment, and both seem to be competing to see who can have the least footage leaked. Unfortunately for DC, Suicide Squad seems to be losing as a whole load of footage featuring the Batmobile chasing the Joker and Harley Quinn's sports car has found its way online.

The footage of the car chase, which looks to have been filmed on various bystanders’ phones, has found its way onto Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. You can watch it below.

Ben Affleck will star as Batman, a role he will also play in the upcoming Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Jered Leto's Joker, however, will most likely debut in Suicide Squad.

The David Ayer directed film, due for release on 5 August 2016, follows the exploits of the Suicide Squad, a gang of DC Comics supervillains who conduct secret operations on behalf of the US government in exchange for shortened prison sentences.

Starring alongside Leto and Affleck will be Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.

Suicide Squad is just one of the ten planned upcoming DC films, all of which will be based in the same cinematic universe similar to Marvel's own.

The film currently has a UK release date of 5 August 2016.
