Despite ardent DC fans arguing Suicide Squad wasn’t a disastrous film, many casual cinema goers were left bitterly disappointed by the superhero flick.

One of the many complaints aimed at the film focused on Jared Leto’s Joker, the controversial character notably different to Heath Ledger’s version.

Wearing a purple coat and smothered in bizarre tattoos, it was easy to hate Leto’s attire, not helped by multiple scenes featuring the character being cut from the final film. But things could have been much, much worse.

Artist Tina Charad – who helped design the character’s wardrobe – recently shared some of the unused concept art on Imgur (picked up by Screen Crush). The worst offender: purple shorts that read “wicked” on the back.

Recently, the full trailer for the extended edition of Suicide Squad was released, featuring yet more new footage. Previously, Leto said there was enough deleted footage to create an entire Joker film.

Suicide Squad extended edition is available on DVD and Blue-ray now.
