Jake Gyllenhaal has confirmed he is not interested in playing Rick Flag after Tom Hardy dropped out of the role last week.
According to Variety, the actor has passed on the offer to play the leader of the superhero team.
Directed by David Ayer, the film follows a group of villains from DC’s comic book series, including the Joker, Deadshot, Harley Quinn and Enchantress, as they undertake dangerous government black ops missions in exchange for clemency.
Hardy pulled out of the film last week due to reported scheduling issues.
The rest of the cast remains in place, with The Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie lined-up to play Harley Quinn, the Joker’s on-off girlfriend in the Batman comics.
Jared Leto will play the Joker, with Will Smith starring as Deadshot and Cara Delevingne set to appear as Enchantress.
Jesse Eisenberg has also been rumoured to reprise his role as Superman arch-rival Lex Luthor.
It is not known yet which actors are being approached for the Rick Flag part.
The film is not due to be released until the summer of 2016, so producers still have some time to cast the role.
