Neither Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice nor Suicide Squad have hit cinemas yet but already Warner Bros. are reportedly planning a sequel to latter.

In a report by The Wrap on David Ayer’s Will Smith starring thriller Bright, they casually mention that discussions have already begun on a sequel to the villain-led flick.

“Ayer hopes to fit the project into his fall schedule before Warner Bros. brings him and Smith back for a planned Suicide Squad sequel in 2017,” it reads.

If work does begin on the film in 2017, surely we should expect the sequel in 2018 - the same year both The Flash and Aquaman are expected to launch; two titles people are slightly skeptical about.

Shoehorning the film into the schedule could disrupt a number of things, including the release of a Ben Affleck starring Batman spin-off film, which currently does not have a release date. We have contacted Warner Bros for to comment but have yet to hear anything back.

Suicide Squad - which hits cinemas 5 August - stars Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman and Viola Davis as members of the squad, while Affleck will also appear as The Dark Knight.
