From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi's London premiere was a feat of glittering stars and Hollywood magic.

Much of the film's cast were in attendance, including Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran, Andy Serkis, and Benicio del Toro.

But there was an extra, royal surprise: Prince William and Harry, fans of the franchise, were also in attendance at the Royal Albert Hall event. Both had an opportunity to speak to the cast before the film commenced, but were first greeted by a very special ambassador.

Loveable droid BB-8 rolled onto the red carpet to say hello, making first sure to follow royal protocol and bow to both the princes.

Both Prince William and Harry had previously visited the Star Wars set at in Pinewood in April of last year, with Boyega confirming that the pair cameo in the film as Stormtroopers. Which ones? Well, that's where the detective work comes in.
