From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The world premiere of Star War: The Force Awakens took place last night and it was a big deal to say the least.

Stars lined the red carpet, from those starring in the film to celebrities who - it turns out - are just massive Star Wars fans.

If you weren’t lucky enough to be there in person, the whole thing was filmed and is currently available on YouTube already. Watch below.

Highlights include an interview with Harrison Ford (at 36.25), acting super chilled out as an excited interviewer shoots questions at him about the future of Han Solo.

Original Star Wars creator George Lucas was also there (around the 44-minute mark), speaking a little about JJ Abrams take on the film as well as his future projects (which won't be seen by anyone, ever).

At the 1 hour 16 mark, Mark Hamill reflects on how this premier compares to the original film's (for which there wasn't one). He’s as awesome as ever, revealing how great it is to not have to do any press as Disney don't want him leaking character secrets.

The younger cast were also there, with Londoner John Boyega wearing a single black leather glove, giving a shout out to his family and friends.

There’s also a lovely moment where Oscar Isaac and Carrie Fisher interview each other and it gets out of hand, quickly (at the 1 hour 25 mark). Fisher is amazing to say the least.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out in UK cinemas 17 December.
