From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

JJ Abrams has stated on numerous occasions how he wanted to keep information regarding the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens to a minimum.

After the ‘final’ trailer, over five TV spots and a Japanese teaser have appeared online, giving us a lot of exciting new footage.

The most recent spot brings John Boyega’s character Finn to the forefront and features some new dialogue between him and Harrison Ford’s Han Solo.

“Sure you’re up for this?” asks Solo, to which Finn responds “Hell no”. Watch the 30-second clip below.

It has been revealed Star Wars: The Force Awakens will miss awards season in an attempt to prevent spoilers leaking.

Earlier this month a rough cut of the film was shown to mega-fan Daniel Fleetwood, who died days later.

The film has reportedly been completed, with a total run time of 2 hours 15 minutes.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives in UK cinemas on 17 December.
