From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. With Star Wars fever having somewhat died down since breaking global box office records, it's about to whip itself back into gear following news of its Blu-ray release.
Backing this up is the release of a new home entertainment trailer which contains a scene glaringly omitted from the film; namely, the moment where chief villain Kylo Ren steps foot onto the Millenium Falcon.
Yeah, that definitely didn't happen.
The brief clip seen in the trailer shows Adam Driver's masked villain entering his father's legendary ship (alongside an extremely British stormtrooper) rasping the words: "Han Solo."
In The Force Awakens' chronology, there are actually quite a few instances where Kylo could have meandered his way onto the Falcon, however, the real question this brief moment poses is: why exactly was he seeking out his father ahead of the lightsaber duel that broke everyone's hearts?
The DVD and Blu-ray will be released on 18 April featuring a making-of documentary as well as behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive deleted scenes - that's right: plural.
It'll be available on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere the previous week on April 11.
