*WARNING: SPOILERS FOR STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS*

With the world gearing up for Rogue One, it's the opportune moment to revisit last year's sensation - and the film that kicked off Disney's Star Wars empire - The Force Awakens.

A new 3D disc edition of the film is set for release on Blu-ray at the end of the month, featuring a brand new commentary track from director J.J. Abrams; which surely promises the reveal of a few tantalising secrets behind the making of the film. Den of Geek revealed one such tantalising morsel of information; previewing the clip of Han Solo's death at the hands of Kylo Ren.

Many fans have wondered what exactly Kylo Ren's motivation is in this scene; whether he's simply stringing Han Solo along this entire time, or if there's actually a part of Ben Solo left who wants to resist the call of the Dark Side, with the director finally providing some answers on the matter.

"I think that Kylo Ren in this moment is actually being convinced to walk away from this," Abrams explains. "Snoke is, as Han says, using him and I think that somewhere... Ben knows this, but I think that he can't accept it, deep down. He has gone too far."

"Obviously, any time two characters in Star Wars go out on an incredibly thin bridge ten miles above the ground with no railings, it's not going to end well for one of them," the director then jokes.

The four-disc collection includes all the bonus features from the original home entertainment release, adding: audio featurettes Foley: A Sonic Tale and Sounds of the Resistance, costume featurette Dressing the Galaxy, a Daisy Ridley and John Boyega-focused featurette The Scavenger and the Stormtrooper, and brand new deleted scenes not included in the previous release.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens 3D collector's edition is set for release 31 October.
