From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Despite being the follow up to 2015’s biggest blockbuster hit, Disney has released very, very little information about their upcoming Star Wars project, Rogue One.

However, thanks to an EW cover shoot, a lot of new information is about to be released.

First off, we have confirmation Darth Vader will indeed be back in a big role, his appearance having been rumoured for a number of months.

According to the report, the Skywalker will be breathing down Ben Mendelsohn's villainous Imperial’s back, as he is “eager to earn the favour of the Emperor” and “avoid the wrath of his black-masked enforcer.”

Next up, it’s official that Mads Mikkelsen will be playing the protagonist, Jyn Erso’s, father; a man whose skills are wanted by both the Empire and the Alliance.

Meanwhile, the new front cover of the magazine gives a fresh new look at Alan Tudyk’s new droid (which he is playing via motion capture). Previously, it was reported he is an Imperial droid commandeered by the Alliance, but this has yet to be confirmed.
