The Star Wars legend proved that even a Jedi Master would struggle with such a monstrous task, after being asked during an interview with Collider.
Some fans believe the films should be watched in the order they were originally released, while others think you should start with the prequels. However, since the release of spin-off films such as Rogue One and the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, the answer has become even more complicated.
While he admitted his preference would be "the way they were chronologically released," Hamill added that he understood the need for a "proper" order.
"Now, I may be wrong, because if you're starting out fresh, you probably go: one, two, three, four, five, six... uh, Rogue One? It's hard, I mean... wait a second.
"Rogue One comes before four! Yeah so you go: one, two, three, Rogue One, four, five, six, seven, eight," he decided, before admitting: "I'm guessing."
He added it would be hard for younger viewers "because the technology is so advanced now".
"Star Wars looks primitive compared to the prequels where CGI flourished," he said.
The order you should watch the Star Wars films has been a subject of contention among fans, and not even George Lucas himself has been able to settle it.
The filmmaker who created the franchise believes you should watch the series in numerical order, so: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX.
"Start with one," he said in an interview. "That's the way to do it right: one, two, three, four, five, six. That's the way they're supposed to be done. Just because it took a long time to film it doesn't mean you don't do it in order."
You can read how others, including Aaron Paul, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, think you should watch Star Wars here. Or, you know... watch it how you want.
The next film in the Star Wars canon after 2017's The Last Jedi is the spin-off movie Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is set for release on 25 May.
A full trailer for the movie was released in February following a teaser shown during the Super Bowl, which featured stars including Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover and Woody Harrselson.
