Your support makes all the difference. Before Alden Ehrenreich was cast as the young Han Solo, there were a lot of worried Star Wars fans, many of whom feared - if Disney chose the wrong actor - it could ruin the character’s legacy.
Thankfully, most seem happy with the Hail, Caesar! actor taking over from Harrison Ford. With the majority of fans backing the decision, Disney is reportedly overtly confident in Ehrenreich, signing him on for three Han Solo films.
An insider told NY Daily News: "There is a real sense of excitement around the Han Solo movie and its potential. Given that Han's early adventures do not need to be tied to the Empire, it leaves story lines open with the opportunity to really give fans something different.
"They can explore new galaxies and crazy creatures and bring in a wide array of new characters.
"They feel that his character has the right potential to become a central figure in several movies. They're keeping things under wraps at the moment, but the deal is that he has signed for at least three movies."
According to the report, the writing sessions for the upcoming spin-off have left the studio with more than enough material for several prequel films with Ehrenreich as the lovable Nerf herder.
Few details about the film have been revealed thus far except that it will also act as an origins story for Chewbacca and has 'by far the best Star Wars script’, according to The Force Awakens’ concept artist.
