From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Lately, new website Making Star Wars - who notably managed to find out The Force Awakens’ twist a year before the film’s release - have upped the ante, revealing one of the many famous film stars set to cameo in the film.
Now, they’ve gone one step further and described an entirely new sequence of events that look set to happen in Star Wars 8 **Possible spoilers ahead**
According to the website, Kylo and the Knights of Ren manage to find their way to Ahch-To, the planet where Rey found Luke Skywalker. The hooded pack attack the pair, with the Knights fighting Luke while Kylo attempts to get revenge on Rey.
Eventually, Luke sees off the Knights and goes for Kylo, who has seemingly pushed Rey off the cliff top (this is debated, she may also just be injured). The Jedi attacks Kylo, who retreats when he realises his comrades have been defeated. According to one source, “a lot of wire work was used” for the sequence.
Notably, Luke has his green lightsaber from Return of the Jedi rather than the blue one Rey returns to him in The Force Awakens. Rey is also said to be angry at Luke before the encounter - she has reportedly been told by the old master she must kill Kylo Ren, something Rey doesn’t want to do.
Meanwhile, in other Star Wars news, a tie-in book has seemingly revealed new information about Rogue One, all but confirming Darth Vader will have a role in the spin-off.
