The British actor joined returning cast members Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Karl Urban on the Starship Enterprise to announce Star Trek: To Boldly Go on Tuesday.
Described as a "unique philanthropic initiative", the campaign offers Star Trek fans the opportunity to win a walk-on role in the movie, with all funds raised from the $10 entry fee going towards nine global causes selected by the actors.
You have until 1 September to try and bag a part, with the film scheduled for release on 8 July 2016. In addition to the grand prize, an extra winner will be randomly chosen each week to form the To Boldly Go Crew. Members of this elite gang will visit the set, hang out with the cast and watch scenes being filmed.
Details of Elba's role in Star Trek Beyond are unknown at this stage, but he will likely be playing a villain in a similar vein to Benedict Cumberbatch and Eric Bana in the last two films.
Regardless, his dance skills are...we're not sure if they're good or just very enthusiastic. Probably the latter, but check them out yourself because either way. he's already stealing the limelight.
