From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

With little to no new Marvel news going round, fans are desperately trying to find out some details about any of the future films.

Perhaps it was because of this that they were very quick to notice an Instagram post that seemed to confirm an actor's return to the MCU.

Spider-Man 3 is currently in production in Atlanta, Georgia, and Jacob Batalon – who plays Peter Parker's friend, Ned Leeds – appeared to post a photo from the set.

The reason why people are convinced it reveals Batalon's return to the Marvel universe is due to the fact it shows him wearing the character's costume and it has since been deleted.

“Ned just wanted to stop in to say hi,” the caption read.

The official synopsis for Spider-Man 3, which will see Tom Holland return as the web-slinger, is yet to be released, but it's set to carry on from events seen in previous film, Spider-Man: Far From Home:

Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange will appear in the film as a main character as will Jamie Foxx's Electro.

The return of Electro sent the fan theories into overdrive with many stating he'll return via the multiverse and that his presence in the film teases the arrival of the Sinister Six.

Spider-Man 3 is expected to be released December 2021.
