Mexican actress Stephanie Sigman will play mystery woman named Estrella in the Skyfall follow-up, the official James Bond Twitter feed confirmed.
Details of The Bridge star’s character are unknown but, with the storyline being kept so tightly under wraps, fans will likely have to wait until Spectre reaches UK cinemas in October.
Sigman will be joining Daniel Craig, who returns to his role as the iconic British spy; Christoph Waltz as Oberhauser; Monica Belluci as Lucia Sciarra; Lea Seydoux as Madeline Swann; Dave Bautista as Mr Hinx; Ralph Fiennes as M; Ben Whishaw as Q; Andrew Scott as Denbigh; and Naomie Harris as Moneypenny in the much-hyped film.
All we have been told about Spectre’s plotline so far is that Bond will be sent on a trail to “uncover a sinister organisation” after receiving a cryptic message from his past.
“While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre,” the synopsis reads.
Bond fans know that Spectre stands for the Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. It featured in the Ian Fleming novels, led by the villaionous Ernst Stavro Blofeld, but whether he will appear in the new movie remains to be seen.
Sigman is also known for starring in Gerardo Naranjo’s thriller Miss Bala and will soon be seen on new Netflix drama Narcos, about the criminal exploits of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.
