Your support makes all the difference.Sony has released the first trailer for its shot at a Slender Man movie and, fair warning, it sees a schoolgirl stab herself in the eye with a scalpel.
The trailer is full of very creepy moments, albeit the classics: bugs crawling out of mouths and eyes, hard to distinguish scientific visuals and people wandering in woods.
Official synopsis: 'In a small town in Massachusetts, four high school girls perform a ritual in an attempt to debunk the lore of SLENDER MAN. When one of the girls goes mysteriously missing, they begin to suspect that she is, in fact, HIS latest victim.'
Directed by Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard), Slender Man stars Jaz Sinclair (Paper Towns), Joey King (The Conjuring) and Juliana Golden Telles (The Affair).
Though the mythological, internet-spread Slender Man will serve as the horror film's threat, it looks to also riff on the real-life cases of two girls who stabbed a friend and a mother with a knife, claiming the "Slender Man" made them do it.
HBO aired a documentary, _beware the slenderman, in January 2017.
