Despite superhero movies dominating the box office, Sony has removed one of their upcoming Spider-Man spin-offs from their schedule.

Silver & Black — a movie set to feature the Silver Sable and Black Cat — was set to reach cinemas on the 8 February 2019, but has now has no release date. The Tom Hanks WWII drama Greyhound has been bumped up from April to that date to fill the space.

The Secret Life of Bees and Beyond the Lights’ Gina Prince-Bythewood is still expected to helm the blockbuster, with sources telling EW that the movie simply was not going to be ready for the initial release date.

No actors have been cast in the titular roles yet. Silver Sable was created in 1985 and is a mercenary who often hunts war criminals, while Black Cat, a cat burglar, was played by Felicity Jones in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Chris Yost, who worked on Thor: Ragnarok, will has reportedly written the script alongside Westworld’s co-creator Lisa Joy.

Like the upcoming Venom, featuring Tom Hardy, Silver & Black does not link with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will therefore not feature Tom Holland's Spider-Man from Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Meanwhile, a sequel to Venom has already been teased by one of the movie's stars, Woody Harrelson, the actor revealing Carnage may have a big role to come.
