David Gelb is to direct horror-thriller Reawakening with Olivia Wilde and Mark Duplass to star. It centres on a research team that discovers a way to bring the dead to life. After the lead doctor's daughter dies she is given the serum leading to what can only be described as horrifying results.

Family guy goes on funnymoon

Andrew Goldberg, a writer-producer on The Family Guy, has successfully pitched a comedy project with the working title Buddymoon to Universal. The studio has picked up the project about a man dumped on the eve of his wedding who decides to go on his pre-paid expensive honeymoon with his best male friend.

Garner is ready to rock with Al

Jennifer Garner and Michael Caine have signed up to star alongside Al Pacino in the cast for Imagine, written and to be directed by Dan Fogelman. Pacino, Annette Bening and Bobby Cannavale also star in the film about an aging 1970s musician who gives up his rock-star lifestyle to reconnect with the son he never knew.

From cougars to diplomatic crisis

Warner Bros is backing Embassy, a comedy based on a Rob Riggle idea to be written by Cougar Town writer Blake McCormick. The story revolves around three American Embassy workers who must prevent an international war after they cause a diplomatic crisis on the tiny South Pacific island where they've been stationed.

Father-figure role suits Ferrell

Director Ethan Cohen has secured the comedy acting chops of Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell for Daddy's Home. The Paramount Pictures-backed laugher stars Ferrell as a radio executive who strives to be the world's greatest stepfather. Then the freeloading dad (Vaughn) of his wife's two children turns up.

Spielberg targets sniper's story

Steven Spielberg is planning an adaptation of American Sniper, the autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, for his next job as director. Bradley Cooper is attached to star and has been developing the project as a producer. The book tells how Texas native Kyle came to record the highest number of sniper kills for an American.
