Seth Rogan is hoping to change that. With Sausage Party, he’s created the most widely anticipated R-Rated 3D animated film in recent memory in thanks to an all-star cast and creative marketing.
Before finally being certified R by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the film was actually pushing an NC-17 rating thanks to an orgy scene.
"We probably added six things into the orgy that we were like, 'OK, these are like our sacrificial lambs,’" Rogan told Howard Stern on his radio show. Watch the interview below.
While there may have been six things Rogan believed were pushing the boundaries of what was acceptable, there was only one prominent feature they had to cut: the animators had to remove the hair from the David Krumholtz voiced Pita bread’s “ballsack”.
"We digitally shaved the pita bread's ballsack,” the ever-mature comedian told Howard on air.
Meanwhile, Sausage Party’s R-Rating caught one cinema off-guard earlier this year after the trailer was shown before a screening of Finding Dory.
