Sam Heughan has sent fans wild by fuelling further rumours that he could be the next James Bond.

The Outlander star is among the actors touted to take over the role of 007 from Daniel Craig, with a tweet from celebrity website JustJared polling their followers on who should play him next.

On Tuesday (20 April), the Scottish actor retweeted the post, adding a wink emoji.

Beneath the original tweet, many fans had already listed Heughan as their number one choice for the role.

“Who else to play this iconic role but James Bond fans’ favorite, Sam Heughan!?” one fan replied.

“No one but Sam Heughan. This is the face of James Bond!!” another tweet read.

Heughan has previously said that he would love to be the first Scottish actor to play the role since Sean Connery.

“Of course it would be a dream role and a Scottish Bond,” he said, adding: “Who doesn’t want to see another Scottish Bond!”

Heughan is one of the actors in the mix to take over the role from Craig, who has previously said that the much-delayed film No Time To Die will be his last outing as Bond.

Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page is currently the bookies’ favourite for the role, with votes on him being suspended earlier this month.

Page is odds on to be announced as the new 007, overtaking previous frontrunners Tom Hardy and James Norton.
