Sacha Baron Cohen has been spotted reprising his iconic Borat role, leading to speculation of a secret sequel.

TikTok user @alexandheir was driving in Long Beach, California when he spotted Cohen at the steering wheel of a car in his Borat costume, while being pulled along a road by a camera crew.

In the footage, Cohen appears to be in character and struggling to take off his trademark grey suit.

Named Borat Sagdiyev, the character is a journalist from Kazakhstan who ventures to the United States to experience American culture.

The original film, which won Cohen a Golden Globe and was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2007 Oscars, culminated in Sagdiyev kidnapping Pamela Anderson from an autograph signing in the hopes of forcing her into marriage.

Following his arrest, Sagdiyev returned to Kazakhstan, bringing with him American memorabilia including iPods.

Speculation about a Borat sequel was first raised in 2007, before being shot down by bosses at 20th Century Fox. Cohen would instead make Bruno, about an Austrian fashion journalist, and the political satire The Dictator.

Cohen has reprised the Borat role twice since the 2006 film, both times during promotional appearances on Jimmy Kimmel’s US talk show, but has not played the character again in a film or on television.

While the Borat project is being characteristically kept under wraps, Cohen crashed a far-right rally while disguised as a singer in June, and attempted to meet Donald Trump ally Rudy Giuliani in July.

Giuliani claimed Cohen was disguised in “a pink transgender outfit” for the meeting, adding: “It was a pink bikini, with lace, underneath a translucent mesh top, it looked absurd. He had the beard, bare legs, and wasn’t what I would call distractingly attractive.”
