From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Rogue One finally hit cinemas across the world over the weekend, impressing many fans of the series and bringing Star Wars Rebels character Saw Gerrera to the big screen.

Played by Forest Whittaker, the character was created by George Lucas for the unmade live-action TV show Underworld. Until now, Gerrera has only appeared in animated form.

Thanks to promotional material for season three of Star Wars Rebels, spotted in American Toys R Us stores, we have confirmation Gerrera - voiced by Andrew Kishino - will return to the series.

Rebels is currently set two years prior to the events of Rogue One, with Gerrera having yet set up his base on Jedah (plus, he still has his real legs).

Meanwhile, Rogue One has been breaking box office records, having the second highest grossing December opening weekend of all time, only falling behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The film has also brought up some interesting ethical questions surrounding a certain CGI character. Rogue One is in cinemas everywhere - except China and South Korea - now.
