From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Robert De Niro decided once again to attack Donald Trump, calling the President a “lowlife” while appearing at the Annual Hudson River Park Gala.

Located at the Pier 62 in Manhattan, New York, the event saw the esteemed actor honoured and a bench dedicated to him.

“One of my pleasures will be keeping people off my bench who don’t deserve a view of the park like Donald Trump,” he said, according to New York Daily News.

"F**k you, Donald Trump,” he added. “It’s a horror with this motherf***er.”

Former Mayor of New York, Mike Bloomberg, joked after the speech: “It took me years before I finally got a sentence out of Bobby. He’s not a big talker.”

De Niro has a history of calling out Trump in public, saying during the campaign trail last year: “I'd like to punch Donald Trump in the face.”

Earlier this year, the two-time Oscar-winner recently called the President a “flat-out blatant racist”, adding: “If he was smart, he’d be even more dangerous. He’s dangerous as it is.”

Meanwhile, the latest news on Trump: Hilary Clinton has warned the world the Republican may fears he will attempt to launch a nuclear strike.
