The "Hot Right Now" singer took to Twitter to announce she is set to play the role of Christian Grey’s sister Mia in the movie adaptation of EL James’ fictional three-part series.
Ora joins a cast including Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Luke Grimes, Eloise Mumford and Jennifer Ehle for the feature length, which will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.
Her character, Mia, only features in the first novel, but is employed far more heavily in the third book in the trilogy, indicating that she could be committed to star in the full film series.
However, this isn’t the first time Ora has appeared in a movie: she made a brief appearance in the Paul Walker-starring Fast & Furious 6 as a racer when it was released earlier this year.
The film release date has been pushed back to February 2015 after several sets backs during pre-production, including the departure of Charlie Hunnam from the role of Christian Grey due to family and scheduling reasons.
EL James recently revealed that she was “terrified” of her story being adapted for the big screen.
To date, the Fifty Shades trilogy has sold over 70 million copies worldwide, making it one of the fastest-selling book series of all time.
Universal Pictures and Focus Features secured the multi-million dollar rights last year for the story of the relationship between college student Anastasia Steele and wealthy entrepreneur Christian Grey, who introduces her to S&M.
The film is due for release on 13 February 2015 in the US.
