Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Fifty Shades of Grey is leading this year’s Golden Raspberry Awards for the worst films of 2015 with a cringeworthy six nominations.

Eddie Redmayne’s fall from grace, Jupiter Ascending, also has six, along with Pixels and Paul Blart Mall Cop 2.

Jamie Dornan is up for the dubious accolade of Worst Actor for his performance as playboy billionaire Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey while Adam Sandler is nominated twice for The Cobbler and Pixels. Dakota Johnson also gets a nod for her role as Anastacia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey, along with Mila Kunis for Jupiter Ascending and Gwyneth Paltrow for Mortdecai.

The famously awful Fantastic Four is in the running for Worst Picture, Worst Remake, Worst Director, Worst Screen Combo and Worst Screenplay.

There is also the Razzie Redeemer Award, given to the star who has gone from “all-time Razzie champ to award contender”. Sylvester Stallone, Will Smith, Elizabeth Banks, M Night Shyamalan.

Launched in 1980, the ‘Razzies’ spoof Hollywood’s star-studded, self-congratulatory awards season with the winners announced on 27 February, the night before the Oscars.

The Razzies are voted for by 900 members from 47 US states and 21 foreign countries, so you can rest assured that no-one will escape being called out for a flop.

It is not unheard of for actors to attend the Razzies, with both Sandra Bullock and Halle Berry turning up to collect their $5 gold spray-painted gongs in previous years.
