Ray Fisher is to star as the Cyborg in a film about the DC Comics superhero.

The actor, who had already been cast as the Cyborg in Man of Steel sequel Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, will now appear in a feature-length film that will hit the silver screen in 2020.

Fisher is sure to know the character inside-out by then because he will also revive the role in the Justice League movie, which will unite the superheroes of the DC Comics universe.

The Cyborg is half-human, half-machine - the superhero evolved following the near-death of a man named Victor Stone, whose damaged body was saved by technology.

Fisher rose to fame in comedy The Good, the Bad, and the Confused and last year portrayed Muhammad Ali in the Off-Broadway production of Fetch Clay, Make Man at the New York Theatre Workshop.

Cyborg is just one of a total of ten movies scheduled for release between 2016 and 2020 as DC Comics takes on the Marvel franchise.

The full list is as follows:

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Suicide Squad (2016)
Wonder Woman (2017)
Justice League Part One (2017)
The Flash (2018)
Aquaman (2018)
Shazam (2019)
Justice League Part Two (2019)
Cyborg (2020)
Green Lantern
(2020)
