From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe is the wealthiest British celebrity under the age of 30, according to a new "rich list". The 21-year-old, who is worth £45.7m, heads a trio of the film series' stalwarts in the top four.

Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, Radcliffe's co-stars, finished third and fourth in the research for Heat celebrity magazine. Radcliffe is estimated to have earned £25m for the two Deathly Hallows films, the first of which broke five UK box office records on its release this month.

Watson, 20, is estimated to have earnings of above £20.6m and is the youngest person on the list. Grint, 22, is thought to be worth £19m but has admitted to splashing his earnings on vehicles, including an ice-cream van, a Hovercraft and Range Rover.

The richest woman is actress Keira Knightley, 25, who takes second place with £30.1m, topped up by her contract as the face of the fragrance Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. The X Factor judge Cheryl Cole was ranked 14th with earnings of £7.9m.
