From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Quentin Tarantino has provided an update on his proposed r-rated Star Trek film.

“It’s a very big possibility,” he told SlashFilm in a recent interview. ”I haven’t been dealing with those guys for a while cause I’ve been making my movie. But we’ve talked about a story and a script. The script has been written and when I emerge my head like Punxsutawney Phil, post-Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, we’ll pick up talking about it again.”

In late 2017, it was reported that, after writer’s room discussions between The Revenant‘s Mark L. Smith, Godzilla vs. Kong‘s Lindsey Beer, Iron Man 3‘s Drew Pearce, and The Simpsons‘ Megan Amram, Smith was eventually hired as the project’s main screenwriter.

The film’s r-rating was reportedly one of the requirements when the Pulp Fiction director first pitched his idea to JJ Abrams and Paramount.

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, Tarantino’s new project, is reportedly set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this month.

With a large ensemble cast that includes Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, the film will explore hippie culture and the Hollywood studio system in late 1960s Los Angeles, around the time of the infamous Manson Family Murders.

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood will be released in the UK on 14 August.
