Last week, reports emerged claiming Warner Bros. were seeking out King to direct an upcoming movie about Willy Wonka, the character from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Variety now reports Disney are seeking out the filmmaker to helm a live-action adaptation of Pinocchio, King having entered into negotiations with the studio.
Details about the adaptation remain vague, but Andrew Miano and Chris Weitz will produce a script penned by Jack Thorne, who recently wrote Wonder.
Pinocchio marks yet another live-action remake of a classic Disney movie, the studio having had previous success with The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast.
Other live-action movies currently being worked on include Jon Favreau’s The Lion King, Tim Burton’s Dumbo, and Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin. Meanwhile, King has also been linked to another Paddington sequel, along with the animated musical Meet The Beatles about the Fab Four.
