Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

If you haven't yet heard about Paterson, add it to your list of 'films to see' immediately.

Adam Driver stars in the new film from acclaimed director Jim Jarmusch (Only Lovers Left Alive) as Paterson, a hardworking bus driver in the New Jersey town of Paterson. Golshifteh Farahani co-stars in the heartfelt feature as Paterson's girlfriend Laura.

The film premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival where it was selected to compete for the coveted Palme d'Or. While it failed to win (Ken Loach's latest I, Daniel Blake did), it did scoop the Palm Dog award for the film's memorable canine.

Jarmusch's past films include Bill Murray film Broken Flowers and the Forest Whitaker-starring Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai.

Girls actor Driver has built up an impressive list of credits over the past year having starred in films from directors including Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special) and JJ Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens). He also has a starring role in new Martin Scorsese film Silence.

Paterson is released in the UK on 25 November.
