From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

As anyone who has seen Paddington 2 can attest, Paul King’s movie is a loveable, marmalade-filled adventure that’s utterly delightful.

While the sequel may have been playing in UK cinemas for the past few weeks, Paddington 2 has only just ventured into US cinemas.

Reviews from American publications are, therefore, only just reaching the Internet and — surprise, surprise — they are glowing, becoming the fourth movie to have a 100% positive rating on aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes with over 100 reviews.

The other three pictures to hold the same title are Toy Story 2, the documentary Man on Wire, and French-German drama Things to Come. Last year’s Lady Bird — an Oscar frontrunner — also held the title but eventually received negative reviews.

The Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab said of Paddington 2: “Paddington Bear returns to the screen in a superior sequel so full of charm and good humour that it should delight audiences everywhere.” Read the full review here.
