From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The Minari star, who turned nine on Saturday (24 April), arrived on the Los Angeles red carpet – and was clearly very excited to be there with the film’s producer, Christina Oh.
Shortly before the event kicked off, a video of the actor dancing in his suit did the rounds on Twitter.
“Now why is this the cutest thing I’ve seen all day,” one person wrote in response, with another adding: “The real star of the Oscars, me thinks.”
Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, Minari follows a family of South Korean immigrants who try to make it in the rural United States during the 1980s.
Two of the Best Picture nominee’s leads stars, Steven Yeun and Youn Yuh Jung, are both nominated for acting awards.
David Fincher’s Mank leads the Oscars pack with 10 nominations, including Best Director, Best Actor for Gary Oldman and Best Supporting Actress for Amanda Seyfried.
Minari follows close behind with six nods apiece alongside The Father, Nomadland, Sound of Metal and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
