From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Above, The Independent exclusively debut the first trailer for the film, which is directed by Harry Wootliff.
The film follows Elena (Costa) and Jake (O'Connor), who meet by chance on New Year's Eve after fighting to get into the same taxi.
Rather than go their separate ways, the pair share a ride and start a passionate relationship. Within weeks, they are living together and discussing their future.
However, not everything's perfect, as the reality of life catches up with them and the lovers struggle to stay together.
O'Connor is best known for playing one of the leading roles in God's Own Country, and will later this year play Prince Charles in Netflix's The Crown.
Costa came to international attention for her role in Victoria, which famously was shot entirely in a single continuous take.
Only You is In cinemas and on Curzon Home Cinema from 12 July.
