From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

For his ninth movie, Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino has been riffling through the A-lister phone book.

Already, we know Leonardo DiCaprio (Django Unchained) and Brad Pitt (Inglorious Basterds) are on board, with Deadline confirming more names that are currently negotiating roles with the director.

The least surprising of these are Tim Roth, Kurt Russell and Michael Madsen, all of whom starred in The Hateful Eight (Roth and Madsen also both appeared in Reservoir Dogs). Their roles are currently unclear and reportedly not major.

Perhaps the most exciting addition is someone who has never worked with Tarantino before: Burt Reynolds. The 82-year-old will potentially play George Spahn, a nearly blind man who once rented his Los Angeles ranch to studios for Westerns.

Charlie Manson and his followers stayed on the ranch during the months before they murdered Sharon Tate – who Margot Robbie has been confirmed to play – and six others. Rumour has it that Manson would coerce female followers to sleep with Spahn in exchange for rent.

Once Upon a Time In Hollywood will reportedly have a Pulp Fiction-like structure, telling various stories about characters around LA in the Summer of 69. DiCaprio will lay the lead, a former Western TV star named Rick Dalton, while Pitt will play his stunt double. Rick struggles to make a name in Hollywood despite having a famous neighbour: Robbie’s Tate.

The movie will be released by Sony, Tarantino’s first film not released by the Weinstein company.
