From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Actor Al Pacino has been cast in Quentin Tarantino's next Sony feature - Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.

According to Variety, the legendary actor is set to star as Marvin Shwarz - an agent to Leonardo DiCaprio's character Rick Dalton.

This will be Pacino's first collaboration with the Pulp Fiction director.

The movie - starring DiCaprio and Brad Pitt - will be set in 1969 Los Angeles during "the height of hippy Hollywood."

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood centres on former western TV star Rick and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) as they try to make it in Hollywood during a different era.

In the film, Rick's neighbour happens to be the (now) late model-actress Sharon Tate, played by Margot Robbie; Tate was infamously murdered by serial killer Charles Manson in 1969.

Joining DiCaprio and Pitt, are cast members Damian Lewis, who will portray acting icon Steve McQueen, Luke Perry as Scotty Lancer, Emile Hirsch as hairstylist Jay Sebring, Dakota Fanning as Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme - a member of the Manson family - Clifton Collins as Ernesto the Mexican Vaquero, Keith Jefferson as Land Pirate Keith, and Nicholas Hammond as director Sam Wanamaker.

Producers for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood include Tarantino, Shannon McIntosh and David Heyman.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is set to come out August 9, 2019.

The film's release date falls on the 50th anniversary of the day the Manson family committed the LaBianca murders and the day Tate was killed.
