From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ocean's 8 finds the most flawless of teams to pull off one impossible heist: infiltrate the Met Gala to steal one of the most expensive diamond necklaces in the world.

Of course, this is a team all played in real life by a similar collection of incredible talents: Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Anne Hathaway, and Helena Bonham Carter.

However, those talents are focused more on the entertainment side than high-stakes thievery, so when we asked three of these stars - Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Sarah Paulson, how they'd pull of their own heist, the answer was noticeably less ambitious.

Bullock offered "deft wit and personality", Blanchett has "good at sleeping", and Paulson can chime in with the pratfalls. Which all sound like different types of distraction, so it's actually their co-star Mindy Kaling who would have to chip in with the concrete skills.

"Mindy would probably mastermind the whole thing," the trio declared. "She's practical and quick... and realistic. We just do a lot of talking and think we're clever, Mindy actually listens and says something valuable and important."

So lots of distractions - and then someone to sneak behind and do the job. Actually, that sounds like it could work. And the mark? "It would be a clothing store. A high-end clothing store," Bullock answered.

Ocean's 8 is out in cinemas now.
