From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Even with the arrival of 90s nostalgia channel The Splat, it still felt like the fondness for Hey Arnold!, Ren & Stimpy, Doug et al could have been capitalised on more.

Nickelodeon and Paramount are doing it right now though, according to Deadline, moving forward with a team-up movie involving the best-loved characters to be directed by Napoeon Dynamite's Jared Hess.

NickToons promises to have the vibe of that scene in The Avengers when The Hulk arrives to complete the line-up, except this supergroup will likely consist of people like Tommy Pickles, Nigel Thornberry and Doug.

Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh! Real Monsters, and The Angry Beavers are all expected to feature, but Nickelodeon has a huge characer library spanning 25 years to pick from so expect at least cameos from more.

Jared Hess will also pen the feature with his wife and writing partner Jarusha Hess.

His next film (if Relativity ever escapes its Chapter 11 bankruptcy) is Masterminds, a comedy starring Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis and Kate McKinnon.
