Billed as the final X-Men film before the characters join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), The New Mutants was shot in 2017 and has been awaiting a release ever since.
Disney acquired the film following the studio’s merger with Fox and was set to finally release the film on 3 April before axing this due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Following its release, critics have been tearing it apart, with one reviewer calling it "the worst X-Men movie ever".
Williams, taking it in her stride, tweeted the Forbes review, writing: "Sounds like a must see! Get your tickets now!"
The Hollywood Reporter also gave the film a negative review, stating it provides nothing more than "an eye-rolling case of déjà vu".
Based on 29 published reviews, its current score on aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes is 24 per cent.
Directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars), the film been described as a horror movie set in an institution for young people with mutant abilities.
It will arrive in UK cinemas on 4 September.
