The second trailer for Disney’s live-action Cinderella has been released, starring Downton Abbey’s Lily James in the title role.
Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the film offers a CG-enhanced retelling of the classic fairy story.
Starring Cate Blanchett as the evil step mother and Helena Bonham Carter as Cinderella’s fairy godmother, the British-dominated lead cast also features fellow Downton star Sophie McShera and Holliday Grainger as the ugly stepsisters Drizella and Anastasia.
The original trailer for the highly anticipated film broke Disney's record for the most-viewed trailer in 24 hours, racking up 4.2 million YouTube views.
Based on Charles Perrault’s story, Cinderella follows the changing fortunes of young Ella, who finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new stepfamily when her merchant father passes away.
Despite the harsh treatment inflicted upon her, she remains determined to honour her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind”, the official synopsis reads.
Cinderella is due to be released in the UK on 27 March 2015
