It offers a first glimpse at what looks like some stunning cinematography and costume design, with exquisite attention to detail and some exciting stunts.
Mulan (Liu Yifei) is told by her family that they have found a suitable husband for her. However, when war breaks out and her father is unable to fight, she disguises herself as a man and takes his place in China’s army.
“It is my duty… to fight,” Mulan says at the end of the trailer.
“Mulan is the epic adventure of a fearless young woman who masquerades as a man in order to fight Northern Invaders attacking China,” the film studio has said.
“The eldest daughter of an honoured warrior, Hua Mulan is spirited, determined and quick on her feet. When the emperor issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army, she steps in to take the place of her ailing father as Hua Jun, becoming one of China's greatest warriors ever.“
The first footage has already received an ecstatic response from fans.
The movie, directed by Niki Caro, stars Liu Yifei, Donni Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Gong Li and Jet Li.
Mulan is scheduled for release on 27 March 2020.
