From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

After tortuous social media teasing from lead stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, the awesome first trailer for the final Hunger Games movie Mockingjay Part 2 has dropped online.

Katniss, played by Lawrence, will continue her epic battle to defeat the Capitol "so we may all be free" as the much-loved franchise reaches its dramatic conclusion.

Francis Lawrence is back in the director's chair with Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and Julianne Moore also among the star-studded cast.

Mockingjay Part 2 will see Katniss and Distract 13 engage in "all-out revolution" against the oppressive President Snow (Donald Sutherland). Peeta, Gale and Finnick will all be at her side as Katniss risks everything to bring victory to Panem and ensure it's future while Snow is hellbent on killing her.

"Nothing good is safe while Snow's alive and I can't make another speech about it" Katniss decides, a look of steely determination on her face. "Snow has to pay for what he's done."

A cryptic poster revealing that "the Mockingjay will be heard" was sent to news outlets yesterday along with today's date "6.9.15", prompting rumours that the teaser would be arriving. The cast and crew also joined in with the fun, posting some mysterious tweets.

Mockingjay Part 1 proved a box office smash last November, grossing more than $725 million worldwide. Part 2 will follow on 19 November later this year.

It remains to be seen whether there will be any spin-off Hunger Games films, after Lawrence said last year that he is "definitely open to talking about it" with Lionsgate.

"I think everybody's thinking about it," he said. "Everybody loves the world and the ideas."
